FREAKONOMICS
Since 2008 I have been a regular contributor to the “Freakonomics” blog, first when it was part of the New York Times’ website and continuing on now that Freakonomics is an independent site. I published 78 mostly op-ed length articles for the Times, and have written 11 more since Freakonomics has migrated. In this role I have very broad latitude to write on any topic related to transportation; I use this platform to inform and engage the public about important issues, many of which otherwise receive scant coverage in the media. Topics I have written on have included:
· Oil, fuel economy, and electric cars
· Gender and travel
· Alcohol and driving
· The future of automobility worldwide
· High-speed rail
· Cities and walkability
· Taxing and pricing the auto
· Travel behavior, VMT, and the travel time budget
